Maurice Felix gets bail but will face murder charge after alleged victim dies

Monday, June 8^th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: On Friday bail of $15,000 was granted to Maurice Felix, charged with the attempted murder of Mark Gentle Vernon and his father Calvin Cumberbatch at their family home on Caesar Ridge Road.

Felix was represented by Oscar Selgado while representative for the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Senior Crown Counsel Cecil Ramirez, offered no objection.

Justice Troadio Gonzalez ordered the usual conditions necessary for granting bail.

But news broke later in the day that Mark Vernon had died in hospital, and now it is expected that Felix will lose bail and be charged with murder.

Felix was previously charged along with brother Emory for the shooting death of Mitchum Heredia on T Street in 2004 but after three trials no convictions stuck and the brothers were let go earlier this year.
