Gaspar Vega stands down from United Democratic Party leadership

By Aaron Humes: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has confirmed via press release that Gaspar Vega is standing down as first deputy leader.

A decision will be made on selecting his replacement at a National Party Council meeting after next Sunday’s national convention in Dangriga.

Vega continues in the Cabinet and leaves politics at the end of his current term.

The party has thanked Vega for his service, saying that no one worked harder for the party than he did.

Party leader Dean Barrow, Erwin Contreras, chair Alberto August and his deputy Fern Gutierrez will be confirmed in their posts at the convention in Dangriga.
