Sunday, August 3, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: She is the former Mayor of Belize City, and since leaving office, Zenaida Moya has somewhat faded from the public spotlight.

But she is planning a comeback. Moya is in Punta Gorda this weekend as facilitator of a leadership workshop for women and during the forum she opened up about her plans for the future.

Moya told local reporters that she is aspiring to be the next area representative for the Mesopotamia division, with the hope of being a minister of government.

And while the journey from consultancy to national elected office is still a work very much in progress, Moya is keeping her feet firmly grounded on one particular issue: that is the empowerment of women.

According to Moya, her platform will definitely include women’s economic empowerment.

“I am excited to be on this new journey and I hope to count on the support of Belizean women as I embark on this journey,” said Moya.
