Police have reported that sometime after 7:00 Sunday night, someone was driving a white 250 Chevrolet pickup heading to Xaibe Village when he/she lost control and collided into a lamppost. The impact broke the lamppost and extensively damaged the pickup truck.
Authorities are still trying to figure out what exactly happened as they are unsure who was behind the wheel. At the scene, about 80 feet away under a tree they found 23-year-old Ian Nugent, a Belizean laborer of Altamira Area, Corozal Town.
Nugent was complaining of pain to his body and had sustained a cut wound to the left eye and abrasions to both hands. He was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital and treated.
Police have not identified the driver of the pickup truck but after making checks, they found the vehicle was insured with Home Protector under the name Roberto Ricardo Noble of #35 5th Street North.
It is suspected that Nugent was the driver, as eye witnesses claim to have seen him in the vehicle but authorities have not confirmed this.
