Ministry of Health issues advisory on private burials

By BBN Staff: If you have recently experienced a death in your family and you are considering a burial for your loved on  private property you are advised to contact the Director of Health Services in the Ministry of Health for approval.

A failure to secure permission will result in a fine of $1000 as outlined under the Public Health Act Chapter 40.

That same act expresses that the Director of Health Services in the Ministry of Health is the only authorized person that can give permission for such burial if the location meets public health requirements.
