By BBN Staff: Political aspirant for the Mesopotamia Division, Shyne Barrow, son of prime Minister Dean Barrow, said this week that he has been actively doing the groundwork in the constituency in preparation for the next general elections.
Barrow said that apart from walking the division everyday, he is spearheading registration for residents who have become of legal voting age; and has already registered about 30 residents. Barrow has also secured new backboards for the basketball court on Euphrates Street, and is planning on holding a basketball tournament there next Saturday.
Barrow is also opening a resource center in the division at the end of the month, providing computers and internet access for students in the area so they can complete assignments. Junior college students whom Shyne has assisted to go to school, will also be on hand at the center, providing tutoring for students in the evening.
“I’ve been extremely focused on Messop,” Barrow said. “I wear many hats, Messop has not suffered any neglect.”
Barrow announced in 2015 that he would run for the Messop division, during the 2020 general elections. Since his announcement, current area representative, Michael Finnegan has been grooming Barrow to take on the role.
