By BBN Staff: Today, 21-year-old Jafari Castro, son of Transport Minister Edmond Castro, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a single count of harm, with respect to the August 6th assault of Kevin Brown.

Castro was jointly charged with James Young and Gilbert Franklin. They all pleaded not guilty, and Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraizer granted them bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety, on the condition that they surrender all travel documents and refrain from having any contact with Brown or his family.

They are scheduled to return to court on October 18,2017.

Castro’s lawyer, Herbert Panton, asked that the court set a date for disclosure and full trial, given the amount of evidence police claim to have on the accused. Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley, represented Franklin and Young.

The arraignment represents the third time the facts of the incident has changed, as police had reported that Franklin would have been charged with aggravated assault; however, all three were only charged with harm.
