Belize starts off 2018 with commendation from UK magazine

BBN Staff: Rough Guides, a respected travel guidebook and reference publisher based in the United Kingdom, has named Belize as one of the best places for trekking in 2018.

Belize ranked 18 on the list of 18 but was one of only two Caribbean islands mentioned on the list, the first being Cuba. Belize was mentioned among nations like South Africa, Russia, Indonesia and Sierra Leone, solidifying its place as an emerging destination gaining international attention.

“This country has some colossal appeal,” Rough Guides said. “The country is a bastion of ancient Mayan temples, thriving rain forests, pristine beaches and preserved coral reefs.

The mention is the first for 2018, coming off a stellar year of international mentions in 2017. Last December, The Independent, another UK Publication, also featured Belize among its “Must visit” destinations.

The Belize Tourism Board, in the wake of all the international recognition, said that the recommendations are a direct result of the BTB’s and other tourism industry stakeholders’ efforts to market Belize as a prime destination.
