Cristo Rey residents concerned about garbage dump

Posted: Monday, January 29, 2018. 10:22 am CST.

BBN Staff: Residents of Cristo Rey village, Cayo are concerned that there are two areas along the Cristo Rey road that residents use as dump site.

Residents provided photos of the condition of the area in close proximity to the road.

Villagers arranged a clean up campaign and cleaned an area along the road but are making a public appeal to travelers as well as residents who routinely dump garbage along the road to desist from doing so.

When it rains, the garbage is washed down into the river and flows into San Ignacio and Santa Elena.

Furthermore, it is hazardous to the health.
The residents are asking for cooperation with residents from Cristo Rey, San Antonio and travelers to stop dumping garbage there.
