Chunox Polyclinic to be inaugurated today

BBN Staff: An official ceremony to inaugurate the Chunox Polyclinic will be held at 10 a.m. today in Chunox Village, Corozal District.

The Government funded the completion of the polyclinic project at an estimated cost of $979,219.12 through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) with counter-part funding from Government.

The new polyclinic will improve primary health care access and reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality, water-borne, food borne, and vector borne diseases, communicable and non-communicable diseases, including early detection and prevention of certain health conditions.

Presently, basic primary health care services are offered at the Chunox Polyclinic to the communities of Chunox, Progreso, Sarteneja, Copper Bank, Little Belize, Fire Burn and Newland.

However, this existing building cannot meet the demands given the rapid expansion of the area estimated at approximately 11,000 persons.

Some of the amenities of the new polyclinic is comprised of a one-story reinforced concrete building with an approximate floor area of 5,500 square feet.
