BBN Staff: Former two time Belize City Councilor, Dr. Alaine Gonzalez, has been reinstated at the Surgical Ward of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Last month, after ten years on the job, he was fired and disallowed from defending himself.

However, he retained legal counsel and filed an appeal to the board of directors at the KHMH.

His counsel, Godwin Haylock, explained that he was terminated without reason, according to the regulations of the Labor Act.

His termination was to have been guided by the KHMH policy and procedure and where there was no grounds provided for his termination, it should have been guided by the Public Service Regulations, but was not.

7News reported that neither was done in the termination of Gonzalez who has been positively appraised each year.
