Moneygram robber may be involved in a string of other robberies

BBN Staff:  Jiovannie Augustine, 22, has been charged in connection with the
robbery of the Moneygram office in Ramon’s Plaza in Ladyville which
occurred on Monday.

However, all indications are that he is part of a group of robbers
who may be involved in a string of other robberies in Belize City.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, today told the
press, “We know that there have been several robberies in Belize City
where police have captured persons involved, however, the business
owners are reluctant to come in and give a statement.”

He added, “We know that this guy is part of a group that is plaguing
us around Belize City. So we ‘re asking and encouraging business
owners to please come up front so we can deal with the persons we know
who are committing these robberies.”
