Security facilities upgraded at the Western Border

BBN Staff: Today, an official ceremony was held to inaugurate the upgraded security facilities at the Belize Western Border.

The works included improvements to fences, gates and other border security features.

The project was done by the Belize Defence Force (BDF) Light Engineers in conjunction with the Belize Border Management Authority (BMA).

In his address, Minister of National Security, John Saldivar stated, “an imperative principle of prosperity is a stable environment and a secure environment, and that stability and security can only be assured if the proper security is in place.”

The event included the groundbreaking of a new BDF outpost at the Western Border.

Saldivar said that the security post will add to the security and safety of everyone in the area.

The construction of the facility will be financed by the Border Management Authority.
