Thieves take skiff, engine and fishing items valued at over $38,000

BBN Staff: Belize City police are investigating a report of a stolen skiff.

Jimel Williams, 36, boat captain/tour guide of Belize River Lodge reported that on July 12, around 5:30 p.m., he and American tourist, Dan Wilcox were fishing on board a white 23-feet Mexican Skiff with the name “Belize River Lodge # 5” on the south end of Long Caye when they were approached by 2 men on a brown skiff.

One of the men had a .9mm gun and held Williams and Wilcox at gunpoint.

The culprits also took the Mexican skiff, the outboard engine and fishing gear.

All items are estimated to value $38,090.

No one was hurt during the robbery.

Police investigations continue.
