Increased security presence near Santa Elena Primary

By BBN Staff: Authorities have increased security presence near the Santa Elena Primary School as a result of last night’s murder in Santa Elena, Cayo.

A woman and a man were shot around 8:30 pm last night on Perez Street in Santa Elena.

2 men on a motorcycle entered the residence and opened fire hitting them.

Mirna Young,58, was shot to the chest and died while receiving treatment.

Angel Martinez,21, was shot to his back and is listed in a stable condition.

Young is the mother of Jorge Galindo who was charged for the murder of Nelson ‘Quacky’ Flores last month.

The residence is adjacent to the Santa Elena Primary School and the community is gravely concerned about the safety of the students.

The neighborhood watch groups are also concerned about the increase in crime in Santa Elena and have requested increase presence in the town.
