Minor detained following midday shooting

By BBN Staff: Shortly after midday yesterday, a man was shot in Belize City.

He has since been identified as Darnel Martinez, 20.

According to police reports, he was socializing with a female near Mosul Street when someone walked up to them and opened fire.

Quick police work led to the detention of a 17 year old male seen fleeing the scene.

He was hit multiple times.

The gun believed to have been used in the shooting was found near the minor.

He has since been detained pending investigations.
