New date set for 2nd Annual Sleep it Out fundraiser

Posted: Sunday, October 20, 2019. 6:43 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Welcome Resource Center, which assists the homeless population in Belize, has set a new date for its raising awareness about the struggles of homeless people through its 2nd Annual Sleep it Out initiative, where attendees take a night to sleep outdoors.

The activity will now be held at the Fort George Memorial Park in Belize City on Friday, November 8. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 12, in commemoration of World Mental Health Day and Homeless Day, which were both marked on October 10; however, the event had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The event is geared towards raising awareness about the plight of Belize’s homeless population and raise funds for the Welcome Center, which provides various services to the homeless.

Donations are $10 per person or $25 to get the official Sleep it out T-shirt. Security will be provided at the park during the event.
