Teenager charged in murder of Giovanni Lennan

By Aaron Humes: Eighteen-year-old Denver Bevans is not only charged with the sensational murder of fireman and basketball star Geovanni Lennan but also firing at a police officer who responded to the incident.

The fisherman from Cemetery Road was read charges of murder and aggravated assault before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer and remanded, without a plea taken, until January 7, 2020.

On Thursday night, November 14 around 6:30, Bevans is accused of shooting Lennon while he was walking through Welch Street. He is further accused of shooting at Police Corporal Briceño Chub.

Corporal Chub was walking through the area on his way home when he heard the gunfire, saw a suspect with a firearm in hand and tried to apprehend him by firing at him. Bevans allegedly returned fire without injuring the police officer.
