By BBN Staff: On December 4, the Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children, in partnership with McNab Visual Strategies, launched the 2020 Inspiration Calendar and Agenda.
The launch was held at the Inspiration Center’s Conference Room.
The artworks displayed on the calendar were created by children with disabilities.
During the ceremony, the Special Envoy, Kim Simplis Barrow presented each child with a signed copy of the calendar.
By showcasing the talent of children with disabilities, the calendar has become an effective awareness tool to reduce stigma and discrimination against persons with disabilities and instead embrace their abilities and potential.
The 12 featured artists are Jayce Yearwood, Jaz Brody Ramos, Willward Archer Jr., Destiny Lizmar Yamileth Pulido, Jeslyn Faith Pinelo, Wilson Alexander Amaya Argueta, Leonardo Eduardo Jimenez, Suliemi Can, Joycelyn Felicia Cardenas, Aiden Dylan Cal, Alfrain Pop, and Shandy Cayetano.
“The reminder each year, that these are children who smile and laugh and have unique personalities just like anyone of us, is a vital step in reinforcing our goal of inclusion and equality. A portion of the proceeds from the agenda sales will be given to the Inspiration Center, which has played an instrumental role in improving the lives of disabled children in Belize,” a statement from Barrow noted.
Barrow thanked McNab Visual Strategies, the artists for this year’s calendar, the Taiwanese Embassy, and all supporters of this annual fundraising.
Barrow also said that she hopes that one day, with the help of citizens, organizations, and ministries, the gaps in Belize’s medical sector will be filled.
