Commissioner discusses crime-fighting strategies with residents in Western Belize

Posted: Thursday, December 12, 2019. 3:45 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams hosted a community meeting last night in San Jose Succotz village.

Over 400 villagers attended the meeting to discuss ways to fight crime and restore peace to their community.

There has been an increase in robberies, home invasion and vehicle theft in Succotz and along the Arenal road.

Residents became gravely concerned about their safety and the safety of their families.

On Saturday night, a family was terrorized when three armed men entered their home. The men tied up the homeowner, ransacked the home and stole the family’s vehicle.

It is highly suspected that the men drove through Arenal and into Guatemala.

The commissioner pledged to increase the security presence in their communities and encouraged community neighborhood watch groups.
