Special Envoy for Women and Children visits Pope Francis

By BBN Staff: Special Envoy for Women and Children, Kim Simplis Barrow participated in the pastoral visit of Pope Francis to the Pontifical Scholas Occurrentes office in Vatican City on Friday, December 13.

This day also marked a special and significant day as the Pope was celebrating 50 years since being ordained as a priest.

Pontifical Scholas Occurrentes is an organization that implements educational programs in the Latin American countries and other regions of the world. The event brought together five First Ladies that included Columbia, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil and Belize for the inauguration of the new Scholas Headquarters in the Vatican.

Barrow, as Belize’s Special Envoy for Women and Children and Chair of Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network (SCLAN) was invited to attend the event to discuss her years of work raising awareness and promoting the self-esteem, mental health, inclusion and general wellbeing of children and adolescents through a comprehensive and multisectoral approach as well as to exchange ideas on the work of Scholas for Belize.

Accompanying Simplis-Barrow was High Commissioner of Belize to the United Kingdom, H.E. Perla Perdomo.
