MOE: ‘Resource activities are to keep students engaged; not to assess them’

Posted: Wednesday, April 22, 2020. 1:56 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: On the Ask the Experts show today, Deputy CEO in the Ministry of Education, Cecilia Smith informed that with relation to resources being provided, it is to keep students from pre-primary and primary engaged.

The Ministry says that it has taken up the mantle to organize how learning happens at the pre-primary and primary level and all resources are to keep students engaged, to continue to develop their thinking skills, creativity skills, reading skills.

“We do not expect that students will be assessed formally during this period,” Smith said.

Smith said that this is the reason national standardized exams were canceled because it is not the time for that.

Smith says that the Ministry is focused on keeping the students engaged and not about them getting a particular grade during this time.
