Prime Minister: No time to think of general elections due to pandemic

Posted: Thursday, May 14, 2020. 11:11 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The last date for general elections now due is February of 2021.

And Prime Minister Dean Barrow says he has hardly had the time to think about it, what with dealing with COVID-19.

So the position is that the House of Representatives likely goes to its full term in November at which point  there would be a three-month limit to call elections.

No plans have been made either for the United Democratic Party leadership convention, at which five candidates seek to succeed Barrow who is retiring.
