By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams today confirmed during a press conference that in an operational plan launched after Saturday’s double homicide and shooting in front of a nightclub in San Ignacio Town, members of the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) would be deployed to stop this deadly rivalry in its tracks.
Four young men, including a police officer, were targeted outside the nightclub, two (2) of whom were killed. The two (2) who were killed are Samuel Hill and Windell ‘Della’ Trapp.
The officer, noted footballer Daniel Jimenez, was shot in the mouth and will need surgery to reconstruct his jaw, but is otherwise stable and in good spirits.
Police investigations suggest that the gunman, in the Commissioner’s words, “recklessly” fired toward the group, where Trapp and Jimenez were speaking (Trapp is a footballer as well).
A rivalry between gangs in the area has led to tragic consequences which must not be repeated, the Commissioner said.
