Happy birthday to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams is marking his birthday today and the Department’s public relations team has already told him to take the day off – unlikely at best.

Separately, his sister has encouraged him not to let anybody “stress him out” – again, not likely considering his portfolio.

Williams has served multiple decades in the Department and is respected particularly in Belize City’s Southside for engaging gang members during his time as commander there.

He has also obtained a combination LLB/CLE from the University of the West Indies and Norman Manley Law School and has been called to the Bar.

Williams was appointed Commissioner of Police in January of last year, succeeding Allen Whylie and has been candid about the challenges facing the Police Department and his determination to overcome them.
