Chinese restaurateur robbed in Independence

By Aaron Humes: The owner of a restaurant on the Savannah Road, Independence, Stann Creek District, got quite the scare overnight when she was held up by a trio of armed Hispanic men.

46-year-old Suqing Chen told police she was in her business around 8:05 p.m. Tuesday night when the trio entered. One carried a long firearm. He demanded money and got $300.

Chen, who refused to make a formal complaint, said the men were masked; two of them wore black t-shirts and the other green.

Police investigations continue.
