By BBN Staff: After processing a total of 241 samples today, 68 new cases of COVID-19 were identified, giving a positivity rate of 28.2%. Of these 68 cases, 21 were detected in the Stann Creek district, inclusive of cases from Bella Vista village which falls under the jurisdiction of the Stann Creek district for Health and other administrative purposes. Seventeen cases were detected in the Orange Walk district and 15 cases in the Belize district.
The 68 new cases are distributed as follows:
Corozal – 8 (3 Corozal Town, 1 Libertad 1 from Chunox, 1 from Caledonia, 1 from San Roman OW, 1 from Springfield CY)
Orange Walk – 17 (14 Orange Walk Town, 1 Trial Farm, 1 San Estevan, 1 from Caledonia CZ)
Belize – 15 (11 Belize City, 2 Kolbe, 1 Western Paradise, 1 from Benque Viejo, CY)
Cayo – 7 (2 Belmopan, 3 Santa Elena, 1 San Antonio, 1 Victor Galvez Stadium in Quarantine)
Stann Creek – 21 (2 Dangriga, 3 Hopkins, 1 Placencia, 1 Sarawee, 1 Santa Cruz, 1 Pomona, 1 Maya Center, 1 Mayan King, 1 Maya Mopan, 1 San Roman, 1 Red Bank, 3 from Bella Vista-TOL, 1 from Trio-TOL, 1 from San Pedro Columbia-TOL, 1 from Douglas-OW, 1 from Belmopan-CY).
In tonight’s COVID-19 update, the Director of Health Services advised that “on the observance of World Diabetes Day and in COVID-19 times, it is important that we remind diabetics and pre-diabetics to always ensure that the sugar levels are adequately controlled to minimize the risk of complications”.
