PM Briceño issues further video update on fight against COVID-19: “We can win… and we will!”

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceño addressed the nation this evening by video, calling on all Belizeans to do their part to win the fight against COVID-19.

Despite the financial difficulties his new Government has encountered in his first days in office, the PM said the new plan envisions a national effort highlighted by adherence to the dictates of face mask wearing, hand washing and hygiene, and social and physical distancing.

“I know that these measures are not easy, especially at Christmas time, but we all need to do our part if we are to win this battle against the pandemic,” said Briceño, who was speaking from his isolation at home in Orange Walk Town after testing positive last week.

He added that with these “manageable rules,” the virus would not spread and Belize could get it under control.

Since the start of the pandemic COVID-19 has infected 5,743 individuals and 147 Belizeans have died due to the virus.
