American national goes missing while sailing from Guatemala to Belize

By BBN Staff: Authorities are asking the public for information on the whereabouts of missing American national Travis Gates, also known as “Heavy.”

Reports are that Gates was last seen on his sailboat headed from Guatemala to Belize on Monday, November 23, 2020.

His sailboat ran off course and was found on the north point of Cabo Tres Puntas in Guatemala on Tuesday 24th November.

An extensive search was conducted by Guatemalan authorities last week by air and sea but to date Gates has not been located. Authorities in Belize have been alerted and a missing person report has been filed.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to report it by calling 610-6094, 911, 922, the United States Embassy in Belmopan or contact the Missing Persons Belize Facebook Page,
