Posted: Friday, December 4, 2020. 2:24 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Data from the John Hopkins University indicated that the United States had reached a record 2,800 deaths in 1 day on Wednesday.

In April, the US reported over 2,600 deaths during the first COVID-19 phase, CNBC reports.

The outbreak continues to be more severe with over 200,000 confirmed cases reported on Wednesday, the second highest daily number.

Over 100,000 people are currently hospitalized across the U.S.

Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield said that about 90% of hospitals across the country are in ‘hot zones’.

Redfield said that December, January and February are going to be the most difficult times in the public health history of the US.

Hospitals are worn out from months of working with inflow of COVID-19 patients along with other patients.

Some hospitals reported that they are running out of beds and staff.

The CDC continues to urge all Americans to postpone travel for the holidays.
