By Aaron Humes: The National Assembly has fallen silent for a moment in honour of a colleague whose death prevented him from joining them today.

David “Dido” Vega, Area representative of Corozal Bay, died this morning in Belize City while undergoing treatment for COVID-19.

Prime Minister John Briceno led off condolences to Vega’s family and constituents.

During the swearing-in ceremony today, Prime Minister John Briceno extended sympathies to the family and friends of Dido.

Briceno informed that all flags will be flown at half-mast until the date of his funeral.

Dido will be laid to rest in a state funeral.
