Belize honors twin doctors who died from COVID-19

Posted: Sunday, December 13, 2020. 6:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Sirens, horns, and even firecrackers began sounding countrywide at the stroke of 6:00 p.m. in honor of Dr. Keeneth and Dr. Kevin Guerra, twin brothers who died from COVID-19 this weekend.

The call to honor the brothers, who were frontline workers in the national COVId-19 response, came from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, along with the Belize Medical and Dental Association.

“The Ministry of Health and Wellness invites colleagues from the public and private sector, the Police Department, Transport Department, and Fire Department to participate in the motorcade. The Ministry also asks that everyone wishing to participate in this moment light a candle at home with their families and post it on Facebook at 6:00 p.m. with the hashtag #frontlineheroes,” the Ministry said.

The medical community called for the initiative to honor these fallen frontline workers to be heard from east to west across Belize.

BBN joins in saluting the Guerra brothers. May they rest in peace.
