By BBN Staff: Amidst reports of more protests in the United States against the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden, President Donald Trump has issued a statement calling for protestors to stop the violence.
“…I urge that there must be NO violence, NO law-breaking, and NO vandalism of any kind,” Trump said in the brief statement issued today. “This is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers.”
Trump’s statement follows a bulletin from the FBI regarding planned armed protests for in the coming days leading to Biden’s Inauguration, reports ABC news.
“Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the US Capitol from 17 January through 20 January,” ABC News correspondent Aaron Katersky tweeted about the FBI bulletin on Monday.
On January 6, protestors stormed the US Capitol building, in protest of the ceremonial counting of votes to certify Biden’s November 2020 election win. Five people, including one capitol police officer who was beaten with a fire extinguisher, died in the violent outburst.
