Center for Disease Control gives guidance on safely enjoying Superbowl Sunday

Posted: Sunday, February 7, 2021. 12:05 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued some guidelines on how to enjoy Superbowl Sunday while keeping safe from COVID-19, according to the New York Post.

The CDC has recommended that virtual parties are the best way to enjoy the historic event but for those headed to an in-person gathering, the CDC has given some extra words of caution apart from the standard wearing of masks and practicing social distancing. As the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the CDC has cautioned against partygoers “shouting, cheering loudly, or singing.”

The CDC’s updated “small gatherings” guidelines told partygoers to “Clap, stomp your feet, or bring (or provide) hand-held noisemakers instead,” the agency said in its updated “small gatherings” guidelines.

More Belizeans are currently interested in the Superbowl today as Rakeem Nuñez-Roches, a defensive player with the Buccaneers, is making history by being the first Belizean to play in the Superbowl.

Locally, private social gatherings are still prohibited under the current Statutory Instrument which governs the national COVID-19 prevention efforts, though exceptions can be obtained from the Minister of Health and Wellness.
