The Football Federation of Belize celebrates International Women’s Day

Posted: Monday, March 8, 2021. 12:42 pm CST.

By Ruben Morales Iglesias, Belize City: “Women are the real architects of society” a quotation by Harriet Beecher Stowe headlined the FFB in today’s post celebrating International Women’s Day.

Stowe (1811-1896) was an American abolitionist and author. She’s best known for her book Uncle Tom’s Cabin which recounted the inhumane conditions in which African American slaves lived in the United States.

The FFB post said: “The Football Federation of Belize and our Women’s Department take pride in designing, creating, and building a society for girls and women in football. Women in football show our growth, our liberty, our strength as women to compete at the same level as our counterparts. Continue to show love and support for all the women in our department, our female players, female coaches, female referees, and all females in our Country. There is no limit to what we as women can do. Happy International Women’s day.”

Under its Women’s Department led by National Women’s Football Director Iris Centeno, the FFB has several programs, labeled with the hashtag #believeintheprocess, to promote women’s football including the development of women’s youth, juvenile and elite football, women referees, and women coaches.”

Their post, accompanied by a video of girls and women dancing and playing football, included the following hashtags:
