Two new COVID-19 deaths

By Benjamin Flowers: Two more Belizeans have lost their lives to COVID-19, according to the latest national update published by the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

The Ministry’s data showed that the latest two deaths, both males, brought the national total for deaths up to 320, since 2020.

The total deaths have been split between 109 females and 211 males, and the case fatality rate now stands at 2.54.

Health authorities have noted that persons with co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, as well as the elderly, are the most vulnerable to losing their lives due to the virus.

The Ministry is currently rolling out vaccinations countrywide in phases and is encouraging all Belizeans to get vaccinated when their turns come up.
