The total number of recoveries due from the virus, as of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2021, stood at 142,153,587.
This represents a global recovery rate of 98 percent of all closed cases. Notably, 3,389,927 (2 percent of closed cases) have died from COVID-19.
Reported infections globally have gone over 163.5 million, with 18.08 million active cases. There are 102,576 cases (0.6 percent of the total active cases) listed as serious/critical, with the remaining cases listed as mild.
The United States, the hardest-hit country in the world by the pandemic, has recorded over 33.69 million cases and 599,962 deaths.
India, the second-hardest-hit country, has recorded over 24.95 million cases, and 274,218 deaths.
Brazil, the third-hardest-hit country has recorded over 15.59 million cases and 434,852 deaths.
