By Zoila Palma: With only 5 days away from the start of the 2021, Atlantic Hurricane season, the National Oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA) is predicting another above-normal hurricane season.
Experts say that the season is expected to be above normal with a range of 13 to 20 named storms.
About 3 to 5 major hurricanes are expected this season.
The experts from NOAA are also reminding the public to activate their hurricane preparedness plans.
“The forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are well-prepared with significant upgrades to our computer models, emerging observation techniques, and the expertise to deliver the life-saving forecasts that we all depend on during this, and every, hurricane season,” said Ben Friedman, acting NOAA administrator.
In addition, leaders are encouraged to advance disaster resilience in their communities.
