Huawei introduces Harmony OS, its new operating system for its smartphones

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Huawei today launched its new operating system, Harmony OS for its smartphones, according to Cnet.

Harmony is Huawei response to Google’s Android and Apple’s IOS.

Huawei designed Harmony OS so the company doesn’t have to depend on Google after being severely affected when the United States imposed sanctions that did not permit it to use Google Play Services.

The Harmony 2-0 launch was part of a global rollout of new hardware products.

Huawei reportedly started developing Harmony in 2016 and it has been around since 2019.

Cnet reported that Huawei’s is now rolling it out to its smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, including “the MatePadPro, Huawei’s iPad Pro rival, and the Watch 3, a premium smartwatch that adds an embedded SIM to allow you to take and make calls without pairing to a phone.”
