Robert Liam Stewart takes 2nd consecutive overall Masters National Time Trial Cycling Championship on Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Robert Liam Stewart won the overall Masters National Time Trial Championship by two minutes, 29 seconds on Sunday on the John Smith Road.

Stewart clocked 47:05 in defence of the title he won in 2019.

The 20-mile race started and ended by the Western Pines junction on the John Smith. The race covered two laps on the John Smith Road which stretches from the Philip Goldson International Airport Road roundabout to the George Price Highway Mile-8 roundabout.

Jody Williams of the Michael Williams Cycling Team was 2nd in 49:34.

Fitzgerald ‘Palas’ Joseph was 3rd in 51:27.

Preston Martinez of M&M Engineering rode in 4th in 52:23. His teammate Roque Matus was 5th in 52:40.

Stewart was 1st in the Masters 50+ followed by Joseph and was 5th in the General Classification which includes the Elite and U-23 riders.

Williams was the 1st Masters 35+. Martinez was 2nd.

Matus was the only Masters 45+ to run the National Time Trial Championship.

Stewart will now defend the Masters National Road Championship he won in 2019 on Sunday, June 20.
