Alicia Thompson of Belize Bank Swoosh beats Kaya Cattouse of C-Ray’s D. Banner’s in sprint to take Women’s National Road Championship in 3:07:10

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Alicia Thompson of Belize Bank Swoosh came from behind to beat Kaya Cattouse of the C-Ray’s D. Banner Cycling Team in a sprint to the finish line to claim Women’s National Road Championship in 3:07:10.

Kaya, still recovering from injuries suffered a week and a half before, clocked the same time as her nemesis, Alicia.

Alicia last won the National Road Championship in 2018.

National Time Trial Champion Nicole Gallego of the M&M Engineering Team beat Junior rider Gabrielle Gabourel of C-Ray’s D. Banner to take the bronze medal in 3:14:27.

The 57-mile National Road Race Championship started at the Crooked Tree junction (Mile 31) on the Philip Goldson Highway, turned right at Ladyville, went onto the Airport Road, the John Smith Road, the George Price Highway from Mile 8 to Hattieville, turning right on to the Boom Road, back to the Philip Goldson Highway and back to the John Smith, finishing just before the entrance to Western Paradise.

Fiona Castillo of BFSC was registered but did not compete.
