Paid Collaboration: These words should not be together. Domestic relates to the home and family and to be abused by the people who say they love you, must be one of the most painful kinds of feelings.

Domestic abuse is a reality in our society and to ignore its presence is to add more insult to injury, it would be cruelty. How many of us have heard in our neighborhoods, obscene insults, screams of anger, violence, cries for help, and crashing sounds of property destruction?

What kind of society have we become where people can perpetuate these acts and still enjoy acceptance rather than open rebuke?

This issue is not an issue only for males or females but it is too common for men to be beating, hitting, stomping, and kicking a woman with whom they are in a relationship. We also know that there are women who abuse men by dominating, abandoning, and even neglecting them. This issue is not limited only to the poor but we see this at every level of society. It happens among the clergy, aristocrats, educated, and politicians.

This kind of behavior is not acceptable and causes a lot of emotional hurt and pain. We must grieve for people living in relationships like this. This kind of abuse allows our children to grow up to see unhealthy violence and anger. We should be ashamed of ourselves, see our sins and repent before our families.

Getting at the root cause of this is sin. Sin comes from the heart. We are all born sinners. We have sinned against God, we have all loved the world, live for our own pride and lusts following the devil (Eph. 1:1-3).  The heart is wicked and desperately sick (Jeremiah 17:9).

To overcome this sin a man needs to repent and turn to Jesus who came to destroy the works of the evil one.

Only when you are in Christ, sin will not have dominion over you.

In Christ, Jesus’s marriage is not about trying to manipulating one another. Marriage gives us an opportunity to learn how to love and serve each other. In Christ, we learn to better communicate our feelings in an atmosphere of acceptance.

We don’t have to be angry and live an angry life.

Christ Jesus loved the church and gave Himself for it (Eph. 5:25) That is how a man should love his wife. In marriage we are to be gracious to each, we are to be committed to helping each other and accepting of each other.

We exist in the world to glorify God enjoy Him and live for Him.

If you have been abusing your wife, STOP it.

REPENT and turn from your sins.

Cry out to God for mercy and salvation.

Humble yourself before it is too late and God brings judgment on you.
