Man assaults his girlfriend for offering food to another man, claims he does not recall the event

By BBN Staff: Mario Vellos, 26. pleaded guilty to wounding his girlfriend 21-year-old Heidi O’Campo, in court this week, but stressed to the court that he could not recall the event at all.

O’Campo told the court that on the night of Monday, August 16, she was at home with Vellos, and left him drinking with a friend to go and cook. When she had finished she asked the other man if he wanted some of the food she had cooked and that’s when Vellos confronted her in the kitchen and complained about her offer. He pushed her to the ground and then punched her in the face, giving her a black eye.

Given it was his first offense, the court fined him $1,000 plus a $5.00 cost of court fine and ordered him to pay it by November 26, 2021, or face 3 months imprisonment in default.
