Belize in unplanned countrywide power outage

By Aaron Humes: At the stroke of six this morning, Belizeans were greeted with the lights going off countrywide.

Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) says the outage was not planned and it is working to identify the cause and restore power as soon as possible.

Reports from Mexico suggest authorities there are conducting maintenance to electricity equipment south of Bacalar and Chetumal.
