Belize Progressive Party extends condolences to families affected by gun violence

By Benjamin Flowers: In the wake of the murder of 15-year-old Dwayne Gabourel, the Belize Progressive Party (BPP) has extended its condolences to Gabourel’s family and all others who have lost a loved one to gun violence.

The political third party has on numerous occasions spoken out against gang violence and joined in the national outrage today after it was announced that Gabourel, who was shot on Saturday, September 25, succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The BPP took to social media this afternoon posting, “The BPP extends its deepest condolences to the families of the youths that have been brutally slain due to gun violence. We call on all Belizeans to stand up against this government and demand justice for the unsolved murders. The People’s United Party promised that they would do better but instead, our youths are still being murdered at an alarming rate, and more have fallen out of the school system. Belizeans, we need to stand up and demand more from this government!”

Police say that they have a prime suspect who is being sought for the crime.
