By BBN Staff: Police have detained one person pending charges in connection with the stabbing death of 49-year-old Miguel Zaiden, which occurred last night.
Zaiden was socializing with several other people on Racecourse Street around 7:00 p.m. when a man approached him and an argument ensued. During the argument, the man stabbed Zaiden several times to the head and body and then fled the scene.
Zaiden tried to leave the scene on his motorcycle but collapsed due to his injuries. Police say that the suspect, who was detained sometime after, is from the same neighborhood as Zaiden.
Director of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, told the media today that he and Zaiden were neighbors for a number of years and that he is known to be offensive when intoxicated but has never behaved violently towards anyone to his knowledge.
