Season of road accidents continues; another motorcyclist killed

By Aaron Humes: In a span of no less than 16 hours, there were multiple road traffic accidents countrywide on Friday night and Saturday morning in which at least three people died.

One of those mishaps occurred between Miles 10 and 11 on the Southern Highway. Police say, Alec Gomez, a 22-year-old, Belizean of Santa Cruz Village, Stann Creek District, was traveling from a North to South direction on his Skygo motorcycle when he lost control and ran off the Highway by a culvert.

He regained balance and swerved back onto the Highway at which time he was hit by an unknown vehicle and dragged about 50 yards north. Gomez apparently died on the spot.

Police are investigating.
