By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Department of Transport received new patrol vehicles to increase its presence on the highways.
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing handed over the two brand-new patrol vehicles this morning.
“It is anticipated that this donation of vehicles, valued at $216,000, will enable the department to better monitor speeding and enforce safety on the highway,” the Ministry said.
The ministry explained that the vehicles will be used along the George Price Highway, in light of the recent surge in the number of road traffic accidents on that highway.
There were more than 10 road traffic accidents in the month of November, with a notable portion of them being on the GPHW. At least five people have died in traffic accidents on that road last month.
