By BBN Staff: The Belize Audubon Society (BAS) has developed a new Victoria Peak Hiking Guideline and has begun training tour guides in southern Belize on how to implement it.
Last week, the BAS held a training session in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board on the new guidelines, which include health and safety protocols that are all geared towards improving the hiking experience for visitors. The introductory session was held in Maya Center Village along with specially trained Victoria Peak tour guides.
“Taking feedback from the guides on board, the new Hiking Guideline will be made available to the public ahead of the opening of the Victoria Peak hiking season in February 2022,” the BAS said
The BAS also sent thanks to Julio Saqui for hosting the workshop; and noted that the project was supported by European Commission.
