By BBN Staff: Police say that Orange Walk Town resident, 57-year-old Steve Gilbert Patten was on his way home early Christmas morning when he was ambushed and stabbed to death.
At a media briefing today, Director of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood explained that Patten’s body was discovered about 8:45 a.m. on San Martin Street facing San Lorenzo Road. Initial investigations revealed that he was socializing with relatives earlier in the day and left to return to his home around 2:30 a.m.
Yearwood said that it is believed his attacker lay-waited him and inflicted the fatal stab wounds.
“Our investigators found what they believe is the murder weapon not too far from the scene, with bloodstains on it,” Yearwood said.
He added that investigators are conducting interviews and are hopeful they will receive information that will result in someone being charged.
